BlackBerry Priv: The Budget Smartphone is Tipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow

After a long time Canadian telecommunication company—BlackBerry came in the market to beat its competitors with its latest device- BlackBerry Priv. The Android based BlackBerry Priv finally has a price tag courtesy UK-based retailer Carphone Warehouse. The company has also released an official promo video of the smartphone after setting up a pre-registration page. According to the listing, the BlackBerry Priv spots a 5.4-inch AMOLED display and is powered by a hexa-core (1.8GHz dual core + 1.44GHz quad core) Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC alongside 3GB of RAM. This is BlackBerry’s first device with AMOLED display.

The BlackBerry Priv is listed to come with 32GB internal storage, which is not huge storage space but you can expand it up to 2TB via a microSD card. The gadget is powered by a massive 3410mAh battery.

The phone has a large fast-charging battery, though it doesn’t seem to support inductive charging. The phone is running on Android 5.1 Lollipop but Android’s latest update is available for the device. You can update this phone to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The camera is pretty impressive which supports 18 MP rear facing camera which features Schneider-Kreuznach optics along with a nice twin LED flash. You can also record videos in 4K and in High Dynamic Range. The front shooter is of 2MP unit but it also has image and video stabilization and wide selfie mode.

Additionally, the curved display allows users to glance at notifications, messages, calendar events and others with a swipe. It can be setup to appear on the left or right hand side of the screen. You can set your own apps as per your requirements. The BlackBerry Priv is pretty heavy which weights 192 grams, measuring 147 x 77.2 x 9.4mm, and extending to 184mm when opened to reveal the keyboard. BlackBerry says: “Priv integrates seamlessly with Android for Work to provide secure separation between work and personal data and applications. ThePersonal Space lets you download apps and protects your personal privacy, while the Work Space lets the enterprise secure its corporate data.” Carphone Warehouse’s pre-order page for the BlackBerry Priv is available on its online store. The shipping will takes place in the UK, from Friday, 6 November.

As per my opinion, the 5.4-inch display feels tiny which fits nicely in my hand and its slide down keyboard is surprisingly thin. This latest dual curved screens truly looks stunning. And I am quite impressed with the phone and is worth enough in $699.
